Finally starting my Turbo project, I found an old one online so am refurbishing so I can keep using my 90. Added an uprated cartridge from Turbo Rebuild UK, see link below. Its lighter than the original so should spin up quicker. Also added stainless oil feed and return pipes from Pioneer 4×4, as well as a waste gate actuator from Pioneer. So lets see how much difference it makes, at least its been fun putting it all together. P.S. Yellow paint makes it go much faster…

Thanks for the tip on anti rust, been looking for a good company. I think the sway bars are optional, better cross country without them, but mine swayed like a boat on the road before i fitted new ones…

The rear standard height HD springs are just under 18mm, see https://bearmach.com/product/heavy-duty-coil-springs-sucicihd/heavy-duty-rear-coil-springs-suitable-for-defender-disco-1-range-rover-classic-vehicles-295lbs-445mm-height-pairs-ba-2102 I count 9 turns, but see photo below, blue springs. I also put a photo of the front springs.
I am afraid I have now sold the spare springs I had, sorry.

P.S. Do you have sway bars fitted? I replaced mine, but when they were off it made a significant lift. I know sone do not use sway bars to get better articulation

When I was in the army it was a requirement to wash down the chassis and then use a mix of kero and diesel to wipe down the chassis with cotton waste. It was a horrible job as we had no gloves, but it seems to work. Now I jet wash the chassis every few weeks and spray it with WD40, including a long pipe into the chassis, which seems to keep the rust under control. Something I am looking into is this product https://www.fluid-film.com/products/fluid-film-spray- I am not keen on waxes or paints as you never know whats going on underneath.

I am just waiting for a new oil pipe and drain, if customs dont send it back. Been have big issues with postage.
The hatch in the snorkel really makes a difference. If you want to test it before doing anything drastic like I did and cutting holes, remove the rubber intake hose from the air filter box. See if you notice a difference on the pick up. I could not see the link you mentioned.

Do you have a snorkel fitted? I do, and had a feeling is was causing lag on the Turbo. Today I cut a hole in the snorkel and fitted a canoe hatch, with some stainless mess over it. It really makes a difference when off! I will only use it on long trips not on my local forest tracks.
I cant imagine working on other peoples Land Rovers, mine is being a full time job. I brought her in Oct 2020 and think I will need another 3 mths to get her to a good standard of maintenance… Funny its always the small jobs that become big ones…

I had the front raise, and clutch down all day. Its helped, thanks. I have ordered a new master and slave cylinder as I think the seal has gone on the master.
When I pump the clutch I keep getting bubbles.Thanks again for the advice, Land Rover repair really is a dark art.

No problem Henrik, yes the Brexit thing is causing a pain. I am leaning to fitting a new cartridge, oil feed and drain pipes to mine. Not so interested in getting more power, the EUC level one mapping was fine for me,
